Why SUP is Your New Favorite Workout

Spoiler alert: this post is all about why SUP is your new favorite workout. So if you haven’t fallen in love with SUP yet or maybe you’ve been wondering why take up SUP, then grab a cup of tea or a pint and read on. This post is for you.
Granted, the entire iROCKER team are diehard SUPers. We eat, drink, sleep and dream SUP. Yes, this makes us a bit biased. It also makes us fiercely fanatical about the fun and benefits of stand up paddle boarding as a sport.
Here are our top 5 reasons why SUP should be everyone’s new favorite workout.

Top 5 Reasons Why SUP Should be Everyone’s New Favorite Workout

1. SUP is Effective for All Fitness Levels

Regardless of your current fitness level or your ultimate fitness goals, SUP is a sure-fire way to get you where you want to go. It strengthens and tones literally all parts of your body, from your neck, shoulders and arms, to your glutes and calves. Plus, the core strength needed to master perfect SUP balance provides full body benefits.
You can go it slow and steady, and even SUP on your knees if you’re not ready for a full body burn or SUP yoga. But if you want to go hard and get your heart rate up, you’ll get there with SUP. Whatever your fitness and whatever your pace, SUP is as gentle or rigorous as you want it to be.

2. Try SUP to Transition from an Injury

If you’ve been sidelined due to an injury (or too much time on the couch), then SUP is an easy way to get back into a fitness routine. If you need to take things really slow because of a recent surgery, then you can use a Kayak Seat , SUP is a great way to get back into a fitness routine without putting strain on sore or injured areas.

3. SUP is a Sport You Can Enjoy with Family and Friends

One of the best things about SUP is it can be a purely solo sport or a big group activity, and everything in between. This makes SUP great for family fun, team building and private time.
SUP also doesn’t require a lot of special equipment or training. True, you have to have a great board (we can help you with that). You also need a good spot of water (Canada can help you with that).
That’s pretty much all you need. If you have a buddy who wants to spend the day with you and give SUP a try, your iROCKER ALL-AROUND can hold both of you. This is extra nice with someone extra special in your life.
Or maybe you’re thinking of some solo SUP fishing time. We don’t blame you.
Solo SUP, SUP for two or SUP for a big group — it’s your choice because SUP is flexible that way.

4. SUP is a Creative Way to Spend Down Time with Co-workers

Even on the coldest Canuck winter day, SUP is a great solution to a boring work routine. (Who really wants another office party inside, right?)
So the next time your office or team is talking about a team-building function, think about a SUP outing. You can make it fun with a SUP scavenger hunt, a race course or even a charitable fundraiser for your office charity.

5. SUP is an Affordable Sport

Stand up paddle boarding doesn’t require years of expensive lessons or months of savings. All you need is a good quality paddle board like the iROCKER All-Around, a good patch of water and maybe some handy gear just for the fun of it. (Have you seen our new favorite SUP accessory?)
